Welcoming Fall

The summer is coming to an end and students are gearing up to go back to school. If you still haven’t decided exactly where to enjoy some time off this summer, we wanted to highlight some Texas geography in the western region of the state. Big Bend National Park contains the Chisos Mountains which offer spectacular high-altitude views, camping ground, and hiking trails. The Guadalupe Mountains, located in Culberson County, contains the state’s highest peak called “Guadalupe Peak” at 8,751 feet above sea level. The Davis Mountains, located near Fort Davis, is also a popular site for camping and hiking. The region includes Fort Davis National Historic Site and Davis Mountains State Park. The historical and architectural value of the fort, along with the rugged natural environment of the park make it a great destination for tourism in West Texas.
