When you think of barbecue, you probably aren’t thinking of infrastructure.

A couple years ago, our distributor partner Crawford Electric Supply reached out to us for a custom solution for the new Bill Miller Bar-B-Q Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Working alongside Big State Electric, this project required not just manufacturing capability, but engineering expertise and field coordination.

The Custom Solution

Crawford Electric Supply’s customer needed a custom 4,000 AMP Tapbox to meet specific requirements for the new headquarters’ facility.

The Tapbox measured 90 inches wide x 72 inches high x 42 inches deep and featured 1” x 4” x 76” silver plated copper bus bars. The tapbox required angle framing to meet structural demands.

Engineering Involvement from Start to Finish

From initial design discussions through installation, EPI’s engineering team worked closely with Crawford Electric Supply and Big State Electric to ensure the solution would meet both performance expectations and jobsite realities.

Our team conducted a couple of site visits throughout the project’s lifecycle, including to see the Tapbox being set onto the concrete pad to be installed.

These visits ensured the custom-built unit integrated smoothly into the facility’s infrastructure and helped prevent delays or adjustments during installation.

The entire process was completed in approximately three months.
